Site and Scenes of Kg Perpindahan Rimba III
Hmm... maybe the land was longer?.... hence all houses are build longer horizontally....
does it make sense?

Site and Scenes of Kg Perpindahan Rimba
Kampong Perpindahan Rimba is one of the largest "resettlement" project in Brunei Muara District. From the "normal" perpindahan houses where low income public servants applied and got the 20-years interest free housing scheme, it has now expanded to cater for government officers in Division 2 salary scale (graduates and above) who will only obtain land while the house they would have to built their own.
One will notice that the older version of the housing scheme would have bigger plot of land, but with the new land being given to officers in Division 2 and newer land resettlement scheme will see more people getting land which is only about 0.12/ acre.
This section where the picture is taken is already 6 years in construction and many new houses were already built but according to some people there, there is still no water supply to the site and the public had to rely on daily water services from the JKR Water Department. Hence you will see many houses having water tank storage.
Houses with many design and the most impressive were several 3 storey houeses
Wonder how much that cost...

Foreign workers problems...
Several months ago, my next door neighbour maid came crying to my part time maid, complaining that she wasn’t given any salary for several months and complained that she worked long hours with little food (she’s that skinny) to eat.
Last month, I noticed that my next door neighbour had a new and younger maid working for the family. Three days ago my other half told me that the maid came over to borrow the phone to call the agent.
Tonight she came again (I was shocked to see her but what can I do, imagine yourself being in such situation, are you going to tell her no and close the door on her?), crying on the phone, telling the agent that she wasn’t given much food to eat (told not to cook while the owners are not at home, and hence why she dared to came over to my house) and work very long hours. This I can vouch. She seemed to be working day in and day out without stopping but never know, inside, misery was filling up the heart of this young maid who just want to come to this country to find a decent work so as to support her family back home.
Several days ago, I also met some construction workers who were working in building houses (officers’ houses) in one of the largest resettlement project in the country and they complained that they were not paid for the last three months. Today if you read the newspaper, the Vietnamese ambassador said that there will be 400 Vietnamese workers who will be coming to Brunei to work.
The thought that comes to my mind…. Who eventually will take care of these workers both physically and mentally when they are ill treated and not given salary? Where can they go? Their agents? I don’t think agents are very responsible lot since they impose a very high fee for the maids/workers to work in this country and tend to ignore their problems. Which agency can claim to be good to their ill treated members?...
Sometimes what irritates me is the fact that most of those who can afford maids are those who are highly educated (graduate) people and yet they treat other human beings like animals. Why? Where’s that religious sense of loving and care for other human being? The fact that the neighbour is a uniform personnel, who have expensive taste, really makes me puke and angry when looking at these type of people. Hypocrites! …. Eh emosi pulang me…

Royal Regalia Building needs to be PROPERLY maintain
I went to the Royal Regalia building with two of my friends, just interested to see what has changed since the last time we were there (for me it was over 4 years ago, another friend never while the other was a few years ago as well).
Well, nothing much has changed except new pictures and gifts are displayed. However, im not sure why, maybe it’s deliberate, but one can notice that not all the air conditioning system was switched on. One can actually feel warm there.
I was disappointed to know that after all these years, the Constitutional Gallery was never maintained since my last visit. I mean the videos was not working, some lighting was not switched on and the final and last display, pushing the buttons to listen to members of the Legislative Council speeches were still not fixed, probably since the museum was opened!
There probably should be more display on museum than it had now… maybe more pictures and items for display. The booth selling some items seemed inappropriate, I mean, they should probably sell Brunei postcards, museum journals and other written documents which tourists could buy (hey even old stamps or keychain with Brunei stamps are given away free by the Postal Department during their anniversary).
So… in the end, I hope the authorities should really check on the display items and accessories (videos, audio visual items, please FIXED IT!) should be always be working for visitors to know more about the items being displayed.
I hope in my next visit, the mentioned items would be in proper condition.

Why Doctors should not take patient's blood
Last week I had an emergency and the doctor in charge wanted to take a sample of my blood. The way he took my blood really worry me, he keep pulling the syringe but no blood was flowing full in the syringe. He wanted to reinsert the syringe and I told him he better let the nurse take it.
The experienced nurse took my blood from the back of my palm and everything was fine and I was comfortable with her. Over an hour later, I was cleared of any poison and was allowed to go back (though I had to fill in the "refused to be admitted against doctor's advice"...
A day later, i noticed the ugly bruise on my arm, where the doctor had poke with the syringe and its getting uglier everyday... I wonder did he damanged my nerve or something?

Nasi Katok 70Cents
The original nasi Katok, was made by a Chinese couple around Kg. Mabohai. They are still selling it 24hours a day and if one buys the nasi katok, dont forget to ask for extra sambal.
Note:
Unlike the new nasi katok mushrooming the whole of Brunei, this nasi katok only uses sambal, pusu, a bit of boiled egg, timun and rice for their nasi katok, and its still the best, coz the sambal is great!

Happy new year 2007
Well, the new year went without much things happening (minus the earthquake in Taiwan) but unfortunately the news of Adam Air dissapearence in Indonesia was really sad (it was on the new year's day).
During the long holiday (30th December 2006 - 2nd January 2007), I wonder how many Bruneians actually went overseas, be it in Miri, KK or Limbang? Someone was complaining that they queued for 4 hours just to either get out or get into Miri and thank god for the few days I went there, there wasnt any traffic.
Chinese new year 2007 will fall on 18th February 2007 and this year is the year of the Pig... why some call the Boar, i dont know, then again, maybe Pig is such a "ugly" name. Well, year of the pig will hopefully bring joy and prosperity for all...
Happy new year!
