Site and Scene of Serasa Beach....

Hey, a crab walking in one of the stones... if one observes, you will find many crabs along the rock surface

Fishing in the afternoon, it beats fishing in Jerudong beach they say...

Part of the recent $8 reclaimation and rehabilitation of Serasa Beach...

the govt should do more of these, especially near our coastal areas where the sea water seemed to get closer to homes and areas previously do not have much sea water...

Try the restaurant which serve some seafood... its not the Yacht Club, but the food is not bad... this chili crab cost $8 per 500 gramme... beware though, one must bring mosquito repellent if you want to eat there at night, the restaurant does not provide any insect repellent...

The beach is not as clean as Muara Beach... drifting garbage is caught on the beach sands..

Water, water, everywhere

In Brunei, a new business venture is selling like hot cakes. The businesss is.... selling "mineral, distilled or reverse osmosis" water.

Firstly, where do these companies get all the licenses from?

Secondly, I'm sure they are taking it from the government's tap water to produce these bottled drinks. Is the government is charging as much as they should be charged?

Thirdly, how do government actually checked if these waters are really good and pure as its advertised to be?

Fourthly, which department actually monitors the activities of these companies and making sure that the water is good and safe for comsumption? How often do they actually check if these water had the properties they claim to have?
Fifth, will they actually publish the results of these water or wait for other countries to issue warning, weather some drinks or food are not safe for consumption?

Pensions and Disability Act (1954)

Brunei’s Pensions and Disability Act is in existence for over 50 years and throughout the years as the country’s national income increases due to oil and gas wealth, so too the benefits received by the elderly over 60 years of age and the physically challenged population of the country.

In 1955, only B$20 was given to the elderly and the physically challenged, those who are paralyzed, had Hansen (leprosy), mental disorder and are visually impaired (15 years old and above), are now given B$250 for their monthly allowance.

In 2006, the Government spent about B$39 million in pensions and disability allowance and 17,000 recipients are for elderly people. The highest number of recipient resides in the Brunei Muara District at 9,000 elderly and then Belait District at 3,686 elderly people. The government estimated that by the year 2021, about 35,000 elderly people in the country upped from 19,000 people in year 2004.

Allowances are also given to the dependents of people who had leprosy, mental disorder and visually impaired. The wife are given $188 monthly allowance while children under the age of 15 years old are given B$113 while those above the age of 15 years old will be given $188 until they are 21 years of age.
